Sol Selectas is a record label at the forefront of electronic music with organic sounds, and the label’s new release is an Afro house EP by Safar (FR). Safar (FR) is already an international sensation whose infectious energy runs through his DJ sets and the music he makes. He knows how to capture the imagination, while also having a raw energy that gets people moving. All three of the original tracks on his new Majaneen EP are standout pieces of music that have live instruments and electronic sounds, but it is his invigorating percussion and organic drums that really define his style. “Majaneen” is a compelling opener that has a live an improvised feel with jazzy synth chords and flickering guitar melodies that fill the track with feel-good energy. It has heavy percussion that gives the track a solid low-end, while dancing flutes and vocal chants intertwine between shuffling hi-hats.

“Laafou” has loose percussion and mystical vocals, they combine with shimmering pads that add to the joyous melodies plucked on a traditional string instrument. The Gnawa vocals traditional to Morocco are the focal point of this track, and they fill it with spellbinding emotion.

“Escalera” ends the release with a psychedelic atmosphere that casts a spell upon those who hear it. The thud of the kick-drum and dramatic bass chords are beckoned forth by plucked melody chords that add to the captivating flow of this riveting track.
