Alex Galvan, BÂBEL (MX) – Piedras Preciosas

Alex Galvan and BÂBEL (MX) are teaming up for the second time, this time the Mexican pairing present their new two-track release, Piedras Preciosas.

Piedras Preciosas follows up from their recent collaborative track on Sounds of Khemit, which shares the same organic house style as this new release.

Each of the tracks have a brooding atmosphere underscoring the melodies of live instruments, while robust percussion helps the melodic grooves flow.

BÂBEL (MX) are a Mexican duo consisting of De la Torre and Liturri, and this is only their third official release. Alex Galvan is also based in Mexico, and he has an accomplished back catalogue, including contributions to record labels ranging from Dialtone Records to Shango Records.

This release comes from Alex Galvan’s own record label, Satélite Records. It opens with “La Joya,” which has juddering bass stabs and fizzing hi-hats, creating a framework for the melody of a Middle-Eastern string instrument. “La Pieza” is the deeper of the two tracks, it has piano chords and congas that in the breakdown are joined by an enchanting flute melody.
