Safar (FR) – THE LOST TRIBE

Safar (FR) is an Afro house artist making a return to Sabo’s record label Sol Selectas. He has featured on the label in the past, but this time he is back with a solo EP featuring two of his original tracks. Born in Africa but raised in Europe, Safar (FR)’s music is a culmination of his heritage and the cultures he has grown up in. It fuses the vibrant and upbeat rhythms of Africa’s tribal percussion with the synthesisers, samples and drum machines of Europe’s electronic music scene. Along with music on Sol Selectas, Safar (FR) has also released popular tracks on other influential record labels such as Deep Root Tribe and MoBlack Records. First of the two tracks, the EP’s title cut “The Lost Tribe” which opens with stamping percussion rhythms that underpin the shuffling beats of fast-paced hi-hats. The track’s aboriginal vocals create a shamanistic vibe that is augmented with trippy pads, and after the main breakdown section the percussion gets loose and free-flowing. “Memelles” is second of the two tracks and it’s got prominent synths that glue the track with its tantalising suspense. Surrounding the synths are enchanting vocals and heavy percussion that create a cinematic sound that is both energetic and full of atmosphere.
