Kollektiv Turmstrasse – YAP EP

Kollektiv Turmstrasse return with their first new EP since 2019 and it’s a release with an eclectic mix of influences. Based in the German city of Hamburg, Kollektiv Turmstrasse have earned a global reputation for their epic blend of uplifting synths, techy percussion and speaker shaking basslines. This EP is still trademark to their sound, but is a little different from their usual style. They have showcased their sound on Diynamic, Connaisseur Recordings and Watergate Records and their latest EP is out now via Not Sorry Music featuring three of their original tracks. “Yap” is the EP’s opening track and it’s a bass heavy cut that takes influence from Claude VonStroke’s tech house style. It blends pitch bent chopped vocals with poignant chords and chunky percussion underpinned by throbbing sub bass.“(T) Error” is an electro influenced track that blends digitised vocals with broken beats and a poetic breakdown with a compelling spoken word. It’s a track with interesting contrast as it switches between tranquil pads and raw machine funk. “I’m OK” has some similarities to Yap in the way it layers sub bass and stabbing vocal phrases, but it’s a darker track that focuses more on the percussion. Its jackin’ groove has a floor-filling energy that will get those booties bouncing.
