Mathias Schaffhauser – 6 Uhr Morgens

Mathias Schaffhäuser is a veteran music producer and DJ whose been releasing electronic music since the ‘90s, and his new release revisits a classic track from his back catalogue called “6 Uhr Morgens”. With years of experience, Mathias Schaffhäuser is an unsung hero of the German electronic music scene. He started releasing tracks in the ‘90s and took an experimental approach with deep atmosphere and techy percussion. His music is often rich with melody, and he is also a talented vocalist. 6 Uhr Morgens was originally released in 1999 as part of his classic album Lido Hotel, and he has created three updated versions. Two of the new versions have fresh vocals that add a new layer to the original dub, and there is also a new instrumental version with a fresh arrangement that helps bring the track up to date.

The original has a mid-tempo track with a stripped back groove and trippy atmosphere, and his 2023 versions make prominent use of a warped bassline. There is also a remix from Indian artist Pawas who compliments the package with an ‘80s sounding remix with indie dance vibes.

Mathias Schaffhäuser’s ‘Vocal Club Version’ opens the release, and it’s the most up-tempo of the tracks. The ‘Vocal Version’ and ‘Instrumental’ both have a reduced tempo that really brings out the psychedelic vibes of this trippy release.

Pawas’ Insomnia Remix adds a new modulating bassline playing heavy downbeat chords, and a shimmering melody line that follows the pitch of the vocals.
