Podcast deep story nr. 158 | be the rave | by Shahin While I waited, I noticed that there was no one else in the room or in the hallway. The place was completely deserted to my left and right. This loneliness depressed me. But before I could think about anything else, I heard a voice. Just like was the case with the music, I couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. But somehow the voice sounded familiar to me. At that moment I got the request to enter the room : “Please follow the red line to your designated place.” Immediately afterwards, a glowing line appeared on the floor, which led me to the left corner at the back of the room. On the way, I could barely see a thing of the other people in the room. Everyone seemed to be standing in separate small cabins, which had been arranged so that everyone had an unobstructed view of the front. Just before I entered my cabin, I looked around again and could no longer see the door. It seemed to have been swallowed by the building. Instead, there was just a smooth surface. When I turned around, I saw that the word ‘ComRa’ had been displayed on the screen in front of me. Shortly afterwards these letters disappeared and the lights went out. For a brief moment there was complete darkness. Suddenly I saw something green in the corner of my eye. Something was flying overhead in space. It mixed with other colors and soon there was a colorful swarm all over room. On closer inspection, I could make out individual letters. They slowed down while spinning around and shortly afterwards they moved towards the canvas. There they took their position as if guided by a magic hand and finally they coagulated into the words "be the rave". When the lights came back, I noticed that my friend ‘Lighter’ was standing in front of us. "Yo I hope you enjoyed our little demonstration of our futuristic lighting technology." Now I understood why I recognized the voice from somewhere! Our guest’s name may ring a bell to most of you. After he released several "free downloads" for us, he is also the curator of the second release on Deep Stories Records. We are overjoyed that he has now also created a mixtape for our podcast series. Perfect for enjoying the first rays of sunshine of the year outdoors. Podcast deep story nr. 157 | lighter | by Squire We walk together along the magnificent avenue, which runs dead straight toward the headquarters. The stranger introduces himself as Toben, but everyone just calls her "Lighter", because he always has enough lighters with him at raves to help out in emergency situations. Automatically, my brain creates a note that Toben might be useful in the future. He seems to be with ComRa for a long time, you can tell by the routine when he enters the building. Handshake with the security, then a short chat with the receptionist, and by the way the formalities are done. In less than 5 minutes he has mastered the entrance to the headquarters and grins mischievously from the other side. "See you, then in half an hour at the training!" was the last thing I heard from him before he disappeared into the vastness of the headquarters. I was still standing at the entrance right in front of the door and couldn't get a word out at first. "Please step forward and turn in all electronic devices," the security grumbled at me. A bit intimidated, I rummaged in my pockets before getting the idea to ask "why?". "I'm just following standard security protocol. In the interest of its employees, ComRa takes privacy very seriously. Therefore, no electronic devices are allowed in the building." I nod and pretend to understand the meaning behind the statement. Apart from my cell phone, I don't have any other devices with me. I am to pick this up again when I leave the building. Furthermore, a short pat-down took place, like when entering a soccer stadium. At the reception, my personal details were taken and the reason for my visit was documented. At Lighter, all the security measures were much more reduced. Maybe he just looks more trustworthy than I do. After 20 minutes, I too had reached the other side and could make my way to the training. I was accompanied by two very taciturn members of the security staff. They took me the shortest way and fast step to the training room. They did not respond to my questions. I would have liked to know whether I would also meet the manager of ComRa today. I would have some suggestions for improvement to bring efficiency and the feel-good factor into a sensible balance. Instead, I sit alone in an uncomfortable chair and am told to wait for further instructions. I lean back and take a deep breath. As I do so, I notice the music that is softly resounding in the surroundings. I cannot detect any loudspeakers anywhere. It seems as if the music is coming at me evenly from all directions. I close my eyes and forget for a moment the unpleasantness of the last few minutes. Let go of the stress of everyday life and forget for a short moment the world around you. Today Squire provides you with the right melodies for a short moment of relaxation. The former Formula 1 driver has attracted attention in recent years with numerous Ep`s on labels like Mobilee, Einmusika, Get Physical or All Day I Dream. He also just released a very listenable EP Selador Recordings. Read More
Podcast deep story nr. 156 | curiosity | by Jessy Nimni The next day I had to take part in a training course in which the procedure for entering The Kathedral was going to be explained to me. For the first time since joining ComRa, I went back to head office. It seemed to me that I hadn't been there in ages, even though it was only a few weeks ago. I couldn't remember much of that day. There was the memory of the eloquent manager who offered me to become an “ambassador” and I remember seeing several large rooms with lots of monitors. That’s about all which had stayed in my memory. Instead, I associated strong feelings with this place. At first there was astonishment and awe. A strange mixture which was soon taken over by curiosity and anticipation. But there still seemed to be something that wanted to find its way into my memory. Something that crept around in the shadow of my thoughts. It was held back by the other feelings and couldn’t step forward into the light. The more I tried to recollect this sensation, the darker the area of my mind became. Until I got to the point that some kind of invisible barrier wouldn't let me go any further. It was as if an ice-cold shower passed through me and froze me. For a brief moment I thought I could see a silhouette in the dark, with a facial expression that embodied pure horror, similar to the famous painting by Edvard Munch. At that moment I was torn away from my thoughts. Somebody nudged me and was talking to me. It took a moment before I was able to capture messages again. My host had probably noticed this and repeated his statement. “Well, once again you missed your connection last night. As I just said, if you want to go to the head office, you have to get off here with me! He was right about both statements. I also wanted to go to headquarters and last night was once again particularly long. I just couldn’t leave the last deep story behind. I heard you again and again until the wee hours of the morning as you captured my anticipation and transformed it into pure positive energy. And suddenly the darkness had vanished into my mind and there they were again, my loyal companions of the last few days, curiosity and anticipation! Our guest Jessy Nimni spreads exactly this mood with his podcast and exudes a distinctly positive energy to fend off the darkness around us. Read More
